What Makes Our Essential Oils Different: Choosing the Right Plant Matters
Share
At Base Remedies we work with one plant at a time. That sounds simple, but there is a deeper layer to it. Not all plants grow the same way, and not all essential oils carry the same character. Soil, sunlight, climate and harvest can change the natural profile of an oil. This is where chemotypes come in.
A chemotype is a natural variation within the same plant species. It means the plant developed a slightly different chemical makeup because of the conditions it grew in. The plant is still the same plant, just shaped by its environment. We choose specific chemotypes because they express the plant in its most balanced and recognisable form.
Here is how that looks for our first three oils.
Our Rosemary: ct. cineol
We use Rosmarinus officinalis ct cineol, known for its fresh and clean scent. This version of rosemary carries a bright herbal character that feels clear and crisp. It is the kind of rosemary people love in morning routines, quiet work moments or sauna rituals.
Our Fennel: ct. anethole
Our fennel is Foeniculum vulgare capillaceum ct anethole, which gives a natural sweet and warm aroma with a familiar licorice note. It is gentle, comforting and has a softness that makes it easy to reach for throughout the week.
Our Thyme: ct. thymol
For thyme we use Thymus vulgaris ct thymol, a full and earthy expression of the plant. It is rich, bold and carries the depth that thyme is known for in its traditional uses. It brings warmth and presence to a room or ritual.
Each oil is slowly distilled, carefully sourced and kept as close to its natural state as possible. No blends, no fillers, nothing added to shape or stretch it. Just one herb, thoughtfully chosen and bottled with clarity of purpose.
This is the heart of Base Remedies. A return to simple, plant based care made with attention to origin, character and tradition.
